Is it possible to use other VGA cards than ATI series? |
If the overlay function is not supported properly in VGA card, it is hard to display the images from cameras on the monitoring screen.
Our DVR is best fitted with ATI video card series.
We recommend users to use ATI series to get stable overlay, even though other VGA cards like GeFource series is compatible with our DVR.
Recommend VGA card is as following:
-ATI series of AGP Card, over BMB
-Or other AGP Cards to support overlay function

Computer is not turned on even though electric power comes in after blackout. |
Check out if your BIOS setup program has POWER ON mode.
Some main boards do not give the ability that enables to turn on or off
automatically when the electric power is on again.
Users with that kind of main boards have to turn the computer on manually by pressing the power button. |

DVR gets rebooted regularly in the dawn. |
That doesn't mean any problem with the computer. Orientlux DVR program can be set to be rebooted automatically in certain time for better stability of the computer.
You can set auto reboot time by clicking on ¡°Setup" button.
Then set the time you want to be rebooted on.
(DVR is made in factory to be rebooted on 3:30 AM , Sunday)

There is too much noise while the system is running. |
Check CPU, cooling fan of power supplier in the system.
Cooling fan might make much noise as it goes on with much dust on it.
You should clean up the dust on the fan and case.
Aged HDD might make much noise. Aged HDD might have heat, dust, external shock,or too much saving. They will give damage to the HDD.
If this damage is severe, it can make much noise or break up.

How can I calculate the required amount of HDD for a DVR?(Recording time?) |
The easiest way to determine the required amount of storage for a DVR is :
Required HDD capacity(in GB) = KB*60(Sec.)*60(Min.)*24(Hour)*RSPC*C*D/1,000,000
(KB : average file size for recorded images in KB,
RSPC : Recording speed per second per camera,
C : Number of cameras, D : Number of days)
You can very dramatically stretch out your recording time by just changing the setting
1) Reduce the compression rate
2) Reduce the recording frame rate
3) Setup motion detect during off peak hours or when the facility is closed
By just maximizing your system as I just mentioned above, you can double or even triple
your amount of recording time that you can archive and still get the quality needed to secure
the installation.

What¡¯s the difference video out with 1 channel rotation out. |
1) If you connect monitor out jack to TV monitor, you can monitor the same
images on TV screen as ones on the DVR main screen.
If you set the DVR main screen to show 16 multi images (16 CH),
TV monitor displays the same 16 multi images (16 CH).
This works same for 4, 9 CH as well.
2) If you connect video out jack to TV monitor, you can monitor 1 channel rotation image on TV screen.
You can set in setup menu the rotation channel.

How is the camera visibility distance? |
If it comes to Pan/Tilt/Zoom, it can identify word of book at the distance of 5M. |
How is the installation distance with camera? |
In case of wire one has the standard, 180M far from Orientlux system.
Through our experience; it could install 300M from the system.
But wireless one has much shorter distance from the system than wire one.
Do you support wireless camera? |
Yes, provided that wireless receiver is installed |

How about the quality of screen when I use internet? |
It depends on the transmission way.
*Telephone Modem: this can connect anywhere, if telephone line is provided, with dial up function, but this isn¡¯t particularly fast (56kbit/s), so it make screen connection.
*ISDN, HDSL, VDSL: These provides better screen quality than Telephone modem because of stable line.
*LAN: This is very popular at the company and this provide nearly perfect screen.
*Exclusive line (T1): The internet providers supply this type of line(Max speed-1.5Mbit/s), through it takes lots of budget to install. |

Why don't I need 30 frames per second video recording on all cameras? |
Video surveillance systems are generally intended to allow the image capturing of intruders and crime petrators.
The purpose of these systems is not to make movie quality videos.
Recording rates of as low as 1 or 2 frames per second will catch virtually any criminal act. Even at these frame ates, with many cameras all recording on motion, the compressed video files produced are multi-Gigabytes per day.
Imagine what the file sizes would be if cameras were all recording at 30 frames per second! Of course, recording frame rates must be fast enough so as not to miss anything - a major problem with multi-camera time-lapse VCR systems.
Sometimes time lapsing on VCR systems can be as great as 1 frame very 5 or 6 seconds, in order to get the number of urs of recording time high enough.
This kind of recording frame rate can certainly miss many
things, but a digital system recording at anywhere from 1 to 6 frames per second should miss nothing and still rovide many days of recording capacity.
There are some applications, however, that do require aster recording rates ( e.g. sleight of hand in casino ) and we now have the high speed( 240fps ) series boards and DVRs
available for these purposes. |
